Abstract
These Regulations amend the Meat Industry Regulations: in the definition of "rural slaughterhouse" by deleting "island in which it is situated and in any other area specified under regulation 33L(3), but nowhere else;" and substituting with "rural areas"; by deleting regulations 33B and 33L; by replacing regulation 33H on restrictions on the slaughtering of cattle, sheep, goats and pigs in rural slaughterhouses. Slaughter may only take place with proper lighting and in the presence of an inspector, and only after the animals have rested for at least 10 hours after arrival at the slaughterhouse.
