Abstract
These Regulations provides for the classification scheme of medicinal products, including antibiotic substances and veterinary drugs. The medicines listed in Schedules of these Regulations are classified as general sale medicines, pharmacy medicines, pharmacist only medicines, prescription only medicines, hazardous poisons, controlled poisons, dangerous poisons, dangerous drugs, prohibited substances, and prohibited poisons. These Regulations require a prescription from a medical professional for the use of antibiotic substances in animal feeds for growth promotion. The substances listed in Schedule 11 are classified as general exemptions, including food except: (i) food additives before incorporation into food; or (ii) when used as a means of administering a controlled substance for therapeutic use. Any person who fails to comply with these Regulations commits an offence and is liable under section 46 of the Medicinal Products Act.
