Abstract
Amendments concern the Council, its internal organization and certain powers with respect to features to be protected. The Council may appoint one or more technical committees to assist the Council in the performance of its functions under this Act. The Council may, with the approval of the Minister, by Order published in the Gazette declare any area of land (including reefs) to be National Heritage Area and any building, furniture, picture or chattel as being of national historical, architectural or natural interest or beauty. The Council must keep and maintain a National Heritage Register for the purpose of recording the details of and relevant information relating to every National Heritage Area, National Heritage Building and National Heritage Artefact. The declaration of any area, building or artefact under this section does not affect the rights of the owner of any such area, building or artefact.
