Sugar Research Institute of Fiji Act 2005 (No. 14 of 2005).

This Act provides for the establishment of the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji as a corporate body and defines its functions and powers.
The Institute shall design, develop, monitor and review research programmes and research strategies for the sugar industry, provide extension services to cane growers, prevent, control and eradicate pest infestation of sugar cane, develop a cane quality payment system for the sugar industry, preserve and enhance the ability of land to sustain sugar cane crops, assist in keeping to a minimum any damage to the environment that may be caused by the activities of the sugar industry and carry out other functions as listed in this Act. The Act also established the Board of the Sugar Research Institute, which shall act as governing body of the Institute.
