Abstract
This Act makes provision for the preservation and protection of historic, archaeological, and cultural properties of the State of Pohnpei. One of its objectives is to limit effects of uncontrolled development and land use.
For purposes of this Act, the Pohnpei Historic and Cultural Preservation Review Board is established and, within the Department of Land and Natural Resources, a Division of Historic Preservation is created. The Board shall, among other things, advise public bodies on historic preservation, approve properties for inclusion in the State Registry of Historical Properties and solicit the acquisition and lease of and officially accept and hold in trust, any property, real or personal, for the purposes of this Act. The Division shall, among other things, identify and register historical properties and establish a comprehensive historic preservation program.
