Abstract
This Chapter defines the State Fishery Zone and a baseline system, provides for some matters in relation with the conservation, management and development of the marine living resources of the State of Yap such as foreign fishing, fishing permits and protection of traditional fishing rights and defines additional powers and duties of Yap Fishing Authority.
The State Fishery Zone shall extend twelve nautical miles from the baselines. Foreign fishing is only allowed by a permit but no foreign fishing is allowed in internal waters. The Chapter states principles that shall govern access agreements and foreign fishing in general. The Chapter further defines offences, prescribes penalties and provides for enforcement.
