Abstract
This Act lays down rules relative to meat and products made of meat intended for exportation. It provides also for examination and inspection of animals intended for the production of export meat prior to slaughtering and prescribes humane methods of slaughtering.
Ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection shall be carried out by inspectors appointed under this Act by the Chief of Agriculture. Other provisions of the Act concern the marking of carcasses, the labelling and packing of meat and meat products, seizure of illegal products, registration of businesses and identification of non-edible animal products and prescribe offences in relation with preparation of and trade in meat and meat products, the branding of animals and the marking of meat.
