Abstract
This Policy is focusing on conservation and improvement of the environment for current and future generations in Micronesia. The Policy encompass a wide range of environmental and conservation priorities. These include managing the atmosphere, climate, and ozone-depleting substances; protecting the physical environment; enhancing climate change adaptation and capacity building; and managing forests, mangroves, and inland water resources. The strategy also emphasizes the preservation of cultural, historical, religious, and touristic sites, mainstreaming environmental governance, and fostering multisectoral collaboration for the sustainable use of natural resources. Additionally, it highlights the importance of raising awareness and technical knowledge, securing financial resources for long-term sustainability, and promoting sustainable practices in agroforestry, farming, and marine conservation, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) targets. Key agencies involved include the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management (DECEM), the Department of Resources and Development (R&D), the National Oceanic Resource Management Authority (NORMA), and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
