Abstract
The 65 sections of this Act are divided into 4 Parts: Milk marketing (I); Potato marketing (II); Grants for marketing (III); Miscellaneous and supplementary (IV). The first part of the Act regulates the marketing of milk. The 24 sections are entitled as follows: Ending of milk marketing schemes (sect. 1); Schemes of reorganization (sects. 2-8); Carrying out approved schemes (sects. 9-12); Position of milk marketing boards post-revocation (sects. 13-15); Miscellaneous (sects. 16-21); Supplementary (sects. 22-24). Old milk marketing schemes are revoked (sect. 1). A milk marketing board may, at any time before 1 January 1994, apply to the appropriate authority for approval of a scheme for the reorganization of arrangements relating to the marketing of milk in its area (sect. 2). Section 5 deals with modification of the Scheme. Part II of the Act provides for the marketing of potatoes. The sections of this Part are placed under the following headings: Introductory (sect. 25); Ending of the potato marketing scheme (sect. 26); Transfer scheme (sects. 27-32); Carrying out of approved scheme (sects. 33-36); Position of Board post-revocation (sects. 37-39); Miscellaneous (sects. 40-46); Supplementary (sects. 47-49). The Potato Marketing Scheme is revoked. The Board shall, subject to any poll of registered producers that may be carried out at any time within six months from the day specified by Order, apply to the Ministers for approval of a scheme providing for the transfer of its property, rights and liabilities (sect. 27).
Part III provides for the payment of grants, on the basis of a scheme, for the organization, promotion, encouragement, development, coordination or facilitation of marketing in Great Britain or elsewhere of agricultural produce, fish farming products, and other specifed produce (sect. 50).
