Abstract
These Regulations implement the provisions of Council Directive 90/429/EC in relation to exports to Member States and the approval of semen collection centres which engage in intra-community trade in porcine semen. No person shall collect, process, store or transport, for the purpose of export to another Member State, any porcine semen unless it complies with article 3 of Council Directive 90/429/EC which contains animal health requirements applicable to intra-Community trade in and imports of semen of domestic animals of the porcine species (Reg. 2). Regulation 2 also provides for the approval of semen collection centres which shall comply with provisions laid down in Council Directive 90/429/EC, in particular Annex A thereof. The approved centre shall be provided with a registration number. The approved premises shall be supervised by a veterinary inspector.

These Regulations are made under the Animal Health and Welfare Act.The Artificial Insemination of Pigs (England and Wales) Regulations, 1964, and the Artificial Insemination of Pigs (Scotland) Regulations, 1964, shall not apply to the collection, processing, storage, and transport of porcine semen destined for export to another Member State.
