Abstract
These Regulations give effect to Commission Decision 96/239/EC on emergency measures to protect against BSE. Regulation 3 prohibits the despatch from Great Britain to another member State or a third country of: bovine animals or bovine embryos; meat derived from bovine animals slaughtered in the United Kingdom; products obtained form bovine animals intended for consumption by human beings or animals or intended to be used for medical, cosmetical or pharmaceutical products; meat meal, bone meal or meat and bone meal derived form any mammal. The Regulations also provide for the control of production of gelatine, tallow or related products and the consignment of material containing bovine vertebral column to establishments approved under the Regulations. Regulation 9 outlines powers of inspectors to inspect vessels and vehicles. Also Regulations 10 to 14 provide for powers of enforcement of inspectors. (20 Regulations)
