Abstract
These Regulations amend the Cattle Identification (No.2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 by requiring the person responsible for an animal imported from outside the European Union to notify the Department of the original and new eartag numbers. They place responsibility on the operator of the establishment for the destruction of eartags and their removal, their secure retention and surrender. They amend the Cattle Identification (Notification of Births, Deaths and Movements) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 as amended, to: (a) to enhance the notification by an agent of births, deaths or movement of animals and to specify notification requirements to the Department for lost or stolen animals. They also make minor amendments to the Cattle Passport Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.
