Abstract
This Scheme makes provision for funding by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of installation of satellite-tracking devices on Northern Ireland sea fishing boats over 12 metres in length. Those devices are required on board fishing boats by Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009 establishing a Community control system for ensuring compliance with the rules of the common fisheries policy. It also provides a mechanism for a review of a decision of the Department to reject an application made under this Scheme and provides for inspections. Section 17 of the Fisheries Act 1981 provides for offences in relation false information in relation with a Scheme made under Part II of the Fisheries Act 1981.
