Abstract
By amending the principal Regulations, these Regulations implement European Parliament and Council Directive 97/4/EC relative to labelling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs ("QUID"Directive). These Regulations require the quantity of ingredients to be indicated, adjust exemptions for food imported into Great Britain from other EEA countries or member State making articles 2, 3 and 4, second comma, of the original 1979 Directive applicable to such food, update the defence in relation to exports, require food for which low or reduced energy claims are made to be marked or labelled with the prescribed nutrition label, and make some other amendments relative to specific ingredients.
