Abstract
This Order in Council provides rules relative to fishing activities and aquaculture in the Foyle Area and the Carlingford Area. The Order amends the amends the Foyle Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1952 by conferring powers upon a specified commission to develop and licence aquaculture, to develop inland fisheries and to protect fisheries in the Foyle Area and the Carlingford Area.
As for aquaculture, a new Part concerning the granting, variation and surrender of licences to engage in aquaculture is inserted in the Act. Regard shall be had to environmental considerations. The Foyle and Carlingford Aquaculture Licensing Appeals Board is established. Some provisions concern the recapturing of escaped stock.
Other amendments of the Act concern, among other things, regulation of fishing, restriction of licences, acquisition and development of waters for angling by the Commission, reinstatement of polluted waters, close seasons and offences.
