Abstract
The future of energy in Scotland: Scottish energy strategy sets a 2050 vision that will guide the decisions that the Scottish Government, working with partner organisations, will make over the coming decade.
The vision builds on the following six priorities: 1) Consumer engagement and protection that includes smarter domestic energy applications and systems and cost reductions; 2) Innovative local energy systems to empower communities by supporting the development of innovative and integrated local energy systems and networks; 3) Energy efficiency such as direct and supporting actions to improve the use and management of energy in Scotland’s homes, buildings, industrial processes and manufacturing; 4) Renewable and low carbon solutions supporting champions and explore the potential of Scotland’s huge renewable energy resource; 5) System security and flexibility to maintain secure and reliable supplies of energy to all of our homes and businesses as our energy transition takes place; 6) Oil and gas industry strengths through support investment, innovation and diversification across our oil and gas sector, this include maximising the recovery of remaining resources, decommissioning and carbon capture and storage, preparing the sector and its workforce for a positive role in Scotland’s future energy system.
