Abstract
The Natural Resources Policy 2017 identifies three national priorities for the management of natural resources building on opportunities and challenges described in preceding chapters. Priorities follow: 1) Delivering nature-based solutions - healthy, resilient and diverse ecosystems can provide solutions for the benefit of society to the big challenges it faces. 2) Increasing renewable energy and resource efficiency has a crucial role to play in green growth. 3) Taking a place-based approach, as communities are best placed to shape and understand local priorities and opportunities and to find practical solutions that bring the widest possible benefits. .
To deliver the Natural Resources Policy, and achieve the national priorities, the document identifies actions in key policy areas: Economic Policy (supporting people and businesses to drive prosperity; tackling regional inequalities and promoting fair work; and driving sustainable growth), Renewable Energy, Resource Efficiency, A National Infrastructure Commission for Wales, Regulatory Reform, Agriculture and food, Animal Health and Welfare, Trees and Woodlands, Water and Flooding, The Common Agricultural Policy, Tourism, Local Environmental Quality and Community Wellbeing, Landscapes and our Historic Environment, Fisheries and marine, Transport, The land-use planning system, Education.
