The Strategy envisages four key principles to achieve Net Zero: 1) We will work with the grain of consumer choice; 2) We will ensure the biggest polluters pay the most for the transition through fair carbon pricing; 3) We will ensure that the most vulnerable are protected through Government support; 4) We will work with businesses to continue delivering deep cost reductions.
The document is organised in 4 Chapters and 2 Annexes. Chapter 3 provides for policies and actions to reducing Emissions across the Economy and considers the following dimensions: Power; Fuel Supply and Hydrogen; Industry; Heat & Buildings; Transport; Natural Resources, Waste & F-Gases; Greenhouse Gas Removals. Proposals include: prioritising critical system enablers, Supporting sustained deployment of low carbon generation, reducing delivery risk, low carbon fuel supply, Agriculture, forestry, and other land use (AFOLU) among others.
