Abstract
These Regulations contain some provisions regarding the enforcement of Community legislation that grants some relief measures for the beef market in the United Kingdom in the framework of measures to prevent the spreading of BSE. Commission Regulation (EC) No 716/96 introduced a scheme authorizing the United Kingdom to purchase specified bovine animals. Various requirements are specified as to the slaughter, treatment and disposal of animals subject to the scheme. These Regulations define offences in relation with specified requirements of the Commission Regulation in relation with disposal of cattle and define powers of inspectors.
