Abstract
These Regulations give effect to obligations of the United Kingdom to provide for the administration, execution and enforcement of Council Regulation No. 2092/91 on organic production of agricultural products and foodstuffs. "Organic products" are those products as referred to in Article 1.1 of the Council Regulation. Regulation 3 designates an inspection authority responsible for the inspection system under the Council Regulation and the approval of private inspection bodies. The authority and the inspection bodies shall provide assistance to local authorities in enforcing the organic labelling provisions. The Agricultural Marketing Act is amended so as to include the functions as inspection authority of Food from Britain established under that Act as a corporate body. Other provisions deal with the contribution to inspection offences and prescribe offences and penalties. (10 Regulations and a Schedule)
