Abstract
This Order amends the Renewables Obligation Order (Northern Ireland) 2009. Amendments principally concerns the use of biomass to generate electricity. Fuel derived from bacteria to the fuels shall now constitute biomass for the purposes of that Order. Other amendments redefine circumstances in which NIROCs (Northern Ireland Renewable Obligation Certificates) are to be issued in respect of electricity generated from biomass and concern greenhouse gas emission criteria for solid and gaseous biomass and reporting requirements on the proportion of the biomass that is likely to have come from a protected or threatened species of wood listed in Appendices I, II or III of CITES.
