These Regulations implement in relation to England Commission Decisions on financial contributions from the Community towards a baseline survey on the prevalence of Salmonella in slaughter pigs and turkeys to be carried out in the Member States. The Regulations designate the Secretary of State as the competent authority for purposes of the Commission Decisions and require occupiers or holders of turkeys to send information to the Secretary of State to assist him with the survey of turkey flocks and an occupier or person in charge of a slaughterhouse to send information to the Secretary of State to assist him or her with the survey of slaughter pigs. The Regulations also provide for powers of inspection and create offences.
