Seed Potatoes (England) Regulations 2006 (S.I. No. 1161 of 2006).

These Regulations make provision in England for the control of the production, placing on the market and the certification of seed potatoes, other than those intended for export outside the European Community.
The Regulations, among other things: prohibit the marketing of any seed potatoes unless they have been certified in accordance with these Regulations; lay down size and other quality requirements for seed potatoes to be marketed in the “protected regions”; provide rules relative to packing and labelling of seed potatoes; provide for sampling and examination powers; and provide exemptions from rules of these Regulations for scientific purposes, selection work and for test and trial purposes. Documents accompanying seed potatoes that have been genetically modified must include reference to this fact.
