Abstract
These Regulations make provision in Northern Ireland for the control of the production, placing on the market and the certification of seed potatoes, other than those intended for export outside the European Community. They give effect to various Community Directives and Decisions in this field and, in particular to Council Directive 2001/18/EC. The Regulations make provision for, among other things: the classification and grading of seed potatoes for purposes of quality, plant health and varietal purity; the marketing, packing and labelling of seed potatoes (and in particular of genetically modified seed potatoes; a conservation-varieties derogation; production methods in the interests of plant health; and testing and sampling of seed potatoes.
