Abstract
This Order makes provision for the identification and registration of ovine and caprine animals by keepers of such animals and related matters. It implements in Wales Council Regulation (EC) No. 21/2004. The Order, among other things: provides for the manner of identification (including the requirement that a sheep intended for slaughter before the age of 12 months must be identified with an electronic eartag) and the removal or replacement of identification marks on animals, requires every keeper of animals to keep an up-to-date holding register and an annual inventory, requires operators of central points of recording to report movements of animals electronically and allows other keepers to do so.
