Abstract
These Regulations provide in Scotland for the environmentally safe storage of carbon dioxide in underground geological formations, as a means of preventing emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and thereby combating climate change. The Regulations, among other things: prevent the licensing of carbon dioxide storage in the water column; place other restrictions the licensing of carbon storage; set out the requirements for applying for a licence; and deal with liabilities of the operator after the site has been closed.
