Abstract
This Act provides for rules relative to a tenement scheme and other matters relative to tenements as defined in section 26 of the Act such as boundaries and pertinents, resolution of disputes, support and shelter, repairs: costs and access, insurance, installation of service pipes etc., demolition and abandonment of tenement building, liability for certain costs, etc. The tenement scheme provides for the management and maintenance of the scheme property of a tenement. “Scheme property” is any part of the tenement that is the common property of two or more of the owners and is defined exactly in Rule 1.2 in Schedule 1 to this Act.

Entry into force notes
This Act shall come into force on such day as the Scottish Ministers may by order appoint; and different days may be appointed for different purposes. Section 25 and schedule 4 shall come into force on the day after Royal Assent.
