Abstract
These Regulations are organised in 8 Parts. Part 1 contains introductory provisions including transitional provision for all holdings not previously within a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone. Part 2 imposes annual limits on the amount of nitrogen from organic manure that may be applied or spread. Part 3 sets requirements and limits relating to the amount of nitrogen to be spread on a crop; it also establishes that an occupier must plan in advance the spreading of nitrogen fertiliser, record additional information during the year. Part 4 regulates the spreading of nitrogen fertilizer, where and when to spread it, conditions when the spreading happens near surface water, control system among others. Part 5 establishes closed periods during which it is prohibited to spread nitrogen fertilizer. Part 6 makes provision for the storage of organic manure and prescribes the capacity and construction requirements for such storage systems. Part 7 specifies what records must be kept. Part 9 contains criminal offences and enforcement provisions.
