Wildlife and Natural Environment Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 (2011 Chapter 15).

This Act requires every public body to promote the conservation of biodiversity and defines functions of public bodies in Northern Ireland with respect to the conservation of biodiversity. It also contains provisions for the conservation of wild fauna and flora and habitats. The Act amends the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 and the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002.
The Department of the Environment shall designate and publish a strategy for the conservation of biodiversity and publish lists of animal and plant species, and of habitats, which are considered to be of particular priority for conservation attention in Northern Ireland. The Act further provides for, among other things, the protection of birds, animals and plants, the introduction of new species, hunting, enforcement by wildlife inspectors and the possession of pesticides harmful to wildlife.
