Abstract
Section 2 is amended by defining as "Minister" the Minister of Agriculture. The word "Ministry" shall be construed accordingly. There shall be established within the Ministry a Forestry Department and a Chief Forestry Officer shall be appointed. The Forestry Department shall manage, plant and otherwise use, for the purposes of the implementation of the forest policy of the State, any land vested in it or placed at its disposal by he Minister (new sect. 3). The forest policy of the State consists of the points listed in section 3A. Section 18 of the Principal Act is repealed and substituted a section which redefines forest offences. A new section (18A) regulates the cutting on private land of mahogany trees of any size and those trees specified in the Second Schedule with a diameter not exceeding six inches. No such cutting shall be done without a permit of the Chief Forest Officer. (8 sections and a Schedule)
