Abstract
This Act establishes the Grenada Cocoa Association as a body corporate, provides with respect to its organization and administration and defines its functions and powers. All persons who grow cocoa for sale and have sold cocoa to the Association for a period of at least one cocoa year shall be eligible for membership of the Association. The affairs of the Association shall be managed and controlled by the Cocoa Board, which shall be the governing and executive body of the Association. The Association to be sole purchaser and exporter of cocoa in Grenada. It shall be prohibited for any person, other than the Association, to purchase cocoa in Grenada except for domestic use or under licence from the Board. Transactions between the Association and producers shall be registered in Cocoa Producers’ Books. The Association may, with the approval of the Minister, make Regulations for a wide variety of matters including the purchase, sale, handling, grading, exportation and marketing of cocoa for the benefit of the cocoa industry.
