National Water and Sewerage Authority (Amendment) Act (No. 3 of 2025).

Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by inserting definitions of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, sewerage service, Water Resource Management Unit, watercourse and water supply service. This Act inserts new Section 2A as regards the Declaration of Authority as a public utility under the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission Act and cessation of Authority’s function in relation to the management of water resources as from the date of operation of the Water Resources Management and Regulation Act. It repeals sections 12, 13, 28, 36, 37, 38, 39, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49 and 54 of the principal Act.
This Act makes amendments in the principal Act, as follows: in Section 3 as regards the national policy for water supply services and sewerage services in alignment with the statement of policy established under section 4 of the Water Resources Management and Regulation Act; in Section 6 regarding the functions of the National Water and Sewerage Authority; in Section 7 relating to the obligation of the Authority to provide satisfactory supply of potable water for domestic purposes and a potable or otherwise satisfactory supply of water for agricultural, industrial and commercial purposes and for such other purposes according to the provisions of the Water Resources Management and Regulation Act; in Section 11 on the existing rights of the Authority to use, abstract, manage and control the flow of water; in Section 17 as regards the construction and maintenance upon the land of such works as the Authority considers necessary or desirable for protecting its water supply services or sewerage services; in Section 23 on sewerage and sewage disposal services in compliance with the Public Health Act, Chapter 263, the Public Health Regulations, and the Water Resources Management and Regulation Act; in Section 27 regarding the the establishment of water supply and sewerage areas; in Section 27A relating to levying and collection of rates, charges and fees for the provision of water supply and sewerage services; and in Section 30 as regards the fixing of charges or fees in respect of the provision of water supply and sewerage services in accordance with the provisions of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission Act.
