Abstract
The Strategic Plan for Health provides the overarching framework guiding the health sector policies and programmes of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, and investments in Grenada. The timeframe of the Plan is 10 years covering the period of 2016-2025. The Strategic Plan sets out a comprehensive approach to strengthening the health system by improving governance, leadership, and institutional coordination, while ensuring equitable access to high-quality and affordable healthcare services for all citizens. It recognizes health as a fundamental human right and a key driver of national development. It prioritizes the prevention and control of major diseases—particularly non-communicable diseases—alongside enhanced responses to emerging health threats, and emphasizes the development of a skilled and sustainable health workforce. The Plan also focuses on strengthening health financing mechanisms to improve efficiency and financial protection, as well as advancing health information systems and data use to support evidence-based decision-making, all aligned with achieving universal health coverage and improved national health outcomes.
