Abstract
The Action Plan of the Government of Georgia on the Protection of Human Rights 2018-2020 is a national multi-sectoral action plan. Its main objectives are to revise the criminal law in line with the international standards; to ensure the right to fair trial; to reform the prosecutor’s office; to improve the police system; to develop the penitentiary system that meets the international standards; to improve the probation system; to rehabilitate and re-socialize former prisoners; to fight against torture and inhumane treatment; to fight against human trafficking; to implement standards of privacy of personal life; to guarantee the freedom of expression; to guarantee the freedom of assembly and manifestation; to protect ethnic minorities; to prevent religious intolerance; to strengthen the monitoring and coordination mechanism for the protection of children’s rights; to improve the protection and the assistance systems of the child; to eliminate child poverty; to support the healthcare of the child; to improve the juvenile justice system that is oriented toward the child; to ensure quality and inclusive education for every child; to empower women for improving gender equality; to fight against domestic abuse; to fight against the discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity; to provide social protection for the internally displaced persons; to provide social and legislative safeguards for the displaced persons by natural and technogenic disasters (environmental migrants); to ensure the right of repatriation; to protect the rights of the persons living near the division line; to provide access to healthcare and education to the persons living on the occupied territories; to provide equal opportunities to persons with disabilities; to provide labour rights’ protection; to provide the inviolability of the right to property; to create guarantees for ecological rights; and to inform public servants about human rights.
