Abstract
The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) Implementation Action Plan for 2021 is a national multi-sectoral action plan of Georgia. Its main goals are further improvement in the field of trade statistics; promoting exports to the EU; legislative and institutional approximation with relevant EU legislation and best practice in the field of technical barriers to trade; promoting trade in products subject to sanitary and phytosanitary measures and protecting the life or health of humans, animals and plants; approximation with EU legislation and EU best practice in the field of customs; legislative and institutional approximation in the field of establishment, trade in services and e-commerce with relevant EU legislation; legislative and institutional approximation in the field of public procurement with relevant EU legislation and institutional capacity building; approximation to EU standards and best practices in the field of intellectual property; develop competition and trade remedy fields in line with EU best practices; promoting sustainable development; and ensure effective coordination and communication about the DCFTA implementation. Among others, the document also provides implementation of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary border control procedures; identifying sources for financing for the construction / Reconstruction and equipping of 1 border inspection posts for implementation of approximated sanitary and phytosanitary legislation; adoption of the Law of Georgia on E-Commerce; adoption of Postal Law; extend cooperation with the EU and the GFCM to develop electronic fisheries monitoring system and to fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; close and continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and FAO/GFCM; ensure compliance of the draft by-laws with the new Forest Code; improvement of information and decision support system for forest and land use; supporting trade in timber produced as a result of a sustainable forest management; and implementation of international commitments / agreements related to climate change; raising the awareness of employers and employees about child labour.
