Abstract
The Georgian Strategy for Energy Sector Development 2017-2026 (Natural Gas) is a national sectoral strategy. Its main objectives are ensuring energy security, creating a competitive environment on the energy market, and developing the energy market based on the principle of sustainable development.
Among others, the document provides for a gradual approximation of the Georgian legislation with the EU legislation; forming a gas market that is compatible with the EU market; protecting the socially vulnerable customers; modernization of existing generation objects; implementation of transport infrastructure development plan; expanding the South Caucasus pipeline system; implementation of the underground gas storage project; and continue the expansion of gas supply networks in the regions of Georgia.
