The technical regulation establishes requirements for the use of ionizing radiation sources in veterinary medicine. It sets out conditions relating to the physical characteristics of veterinary facilities, including shielding requirements for floors, walls, and ceilings, as well as the use of mobile protective barriers. It also specifies the minimum equipment for individual radiation protection, including protective aprons, collars, and gloves used during radiological procedures. It sets standards for the operation and maintenance of X-ray equipment.
Veterinary facilities are required to maintain registers of radiological procedures and technical control records for equipment. Additionally, it requires that technical assessments and radiation measurements must be performed by laboratories accredited according to ISO/IEC standards. Procedures for the decommissioning and disposal of radiation-emitting equipment are also established, along with mandatory reporting requirements for equipment malfunctions or withdrawal from use.
