Abstract
This Law defines the subjects and directions of the state policy and tourism activities in the field of tourism, regulates tourism activities, and also defines the rights and guarantees of the tourist as a consumer, the contractual relations of tourist services, the functions and obligations of the state government and local self-government bodies, private sector and mechanisms of public cooperation, tourist safety and other issues related to tourism. Tourist shall be intended a visitor who travels for business, leisure or other personal purposes, with a stay of at least overnight and for no more than 1 year, except for employment in the destination country or in an institution at the destination. A tourist is a person who wishes to conclude a contract or has the right to travel based on a concluded contract. Tourism shall be intended free, voluntary, temporary movement of people outside of the place of residence for recreation, health, satisfaction of cultural and cognitive interest, personal, business and/or professional purpose, which is not related to remunerated activities in the destination country or destination place. The Government of Georgia promotes the sustainable development of tourism, which involves the management of resources in such a way as to enable the achievement of economic and social goals while preserving cultural identity, essential ecological processes and biodiversity. The tour operator is responsible for providing the services stipulated in the tourist package contract, regardless of whether these services are provided directly by him or by another person providing tourist services.
