Abstract
This Law regulates activities in the area of veterinary medicine, defines veterinary and sanitary standards and requirements and shall establishes the forms and methods of state control. The veterinary medicine service is directed by the State Veterinary Medicine Inspectorate under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Georgia. The main objectives of the veterinary medicine service are to: (a) prevent infectious and non-infectious diseases of animals (including poultry, fish, bees) and identify and eradicate their hotbeds; (b) ensuring veterinary and sanitary quality products and raw animal foodstuffs; (c) protect the population against common human and animal disease; and (d) protect the national territory against the introduction and spread of animal disease. The Law also prohibits the use of vaccines, diagnostic agents, chemical-pharmaceutical preparations, feed additives, microelements or biological waste that are not registered in the biological industry’s Pharmacopoeia, or that are manufactured in violation of the standard acts.
