Abstract
The National Strategy for Reduction of Salt Overconsumption is a national sectoral strategy of Georgia. Its main objective is to reverse the number of chronic diseases and deaths in the Georgian population related to the risk-factor – overconsumption of salt. The main elements of this initiative are as follows: gathering of data; formation of minimum standard of reduction of salt in main food products; raising awareness; ensuring an involvement of the industry; and monitoring, evaluation and reformulation.
