Abstract
The Persistent Organic Pollutants Action Plan 2009-2022 is a national sectoral action plan of Georgia. Its main objectives are to develop institutional and legislative framework to prevent the impact of POPs on human health and environment; reducing and cleaning POPs in accordance with the international standards; and preventing new sources of POPs by undertaking local and global measures. The document also provides for legislative reform, training and capacity building in legal enforcement; import, use and waste of POP pesticides; spreading information in main social groups; raising awareness in the public; identification and management of POP polluted points; and creating a monitoring system.
