Abstract
The Socio-Economic and Economic Development Program of Georgia is a national cross-sectoral program. It consists of four sections: Analysis of the existing situation of the socio-economic development of Georgia (1); Assessment of the socio-economic development of Georgia (2); Main directions of socio-economic development and economic growth (3); and Microeconomic results of program implementation (4).
Among others, it provides for the reform of state property system; supporting entrepreneurship; supporting industry; rehabilitating energy sector including hydro resources and thermal waters; supporting agricultural development; improving social protection system; developing the sustainable development concept of Georgia; developing the program of water supply and water-purification facilities; organizing waste management system; maintaining the productivity of natural resources bases; improving the system of environmental protection financing; analyzing the desertification process; implement complex measures against erosion; supporting renewable energy; developing a mechanism for early warning of natural disasters; continuous education of the public about ecological issues; public participation in environmental decision-making; rehabilitation of hydrometeorological work; distinguishing the local public land; strengthening food security; optimization of land taxation; studying the qualitative indicators of soil; stimulating savings by farmers; supporting agricultural cooperatives; rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage systems; providing agricultural equipment; improving land management and speeding up registration; improving the productivity of soil; inventorying agricultural processing facilities; promoting local agricultural products; and monitoring and control of plant and animal diseases.
