Strategic Development Plan of Adjara for 2016-2021

The Strategic Development Plan of Adjara for 2016-2021 is a regional multi-sectoral plan of Georgia’s Adjara region. Its main objective is to support the regional development of Adjara.
More specifically, it provides for improving access to healthcare, education and cultural services; developing a healthy living environment in the region; ensuring a fast and comfortable movement in the region; ensuring a safe environment for living and vacationing; developing social protection services; developing infrastructure with the consideration of persons with disabilities; protecting the ecological standards and preventing environmental pollution; minimizing natural disasters, and potential risks on human health and ecosystems; implementing mechanisms for the protection of consumer rights; developing municipal and utilities services; developing the water supply and sewage systems; introducing modern methods of waste management; supporting entrepreneurship in the region; promoting the products of Adjara; supporting the small and medium size businesses in Adjara; implementing renewal programs for species in the agricultural sector; introducing cultures with the highest productivity and export potential; diversification of export markets; developing innovative and high technologies agricultural productivity and processing; informing the actors involved in the agriculture of the region; reducing the risks in the agricultural sector and ensuring the quality of agricultural products; promoting investments in the agricultural sector of the region; protection and promotion of the cultural heritage; protection of the region’s biodiversity and a rationale use of the energy resources; increasing the effectiveness of the forestry management system; protection and restoration of the forest resources of the region; promoting an effective and optimal use of forest timber and non-timber resources; and promoting an optimal use of renewable energy including hydro-resources.
