Vision and Policy Statement for Development of Water Supply and Sewerage Sectors

The Vision and Policy Statement for Development of Water Supply and Sewerage Sectors is a national cross-sectoral document of Georgia. Its main objectives are to improve the water supply and sewerage services for the purposes of improving life and standard of living, discuss the scope of services in urban and rural areas and differences in the quality of services, and encourage responsible use of water; to overview common objectives which will need to be achieved by the stakeholders in order to develop the water supply and sewerage sectors in a coherent and constructive manner; to ensure the achievement of the water supply and sewerage sector goals as they are listed in the sustainable development goals, the EU water directive, the EU Council directives about sewerage purification facilities and the relevant government strategies and programmes.
Among others, the document also provides for the standards of access to potable water and sewerage; institutional organization and management; protection of environment; climate resistance; development of the opportunities in the sector; increasing finances, renewal, sustainable improvement; gender equality and social inclusion; sector coordination; and operational improvement, monitoring, and regulation.
