Fisheries Management Plan of Ghana. A National Policy for the Management of the Marine Fisheries Sector 2022-2026.

The 2022-2026 Marine Fisheries Management Plan (MFMP) aims to align fishing effort with sustainable levels, improve data collection, enforce legislation, develop gear regulations, protect marine habitat and biodiversity, and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of fishers. The Plan provides for implementing resilient policy measures and elaborates on the importance of evidence-based conservation strategies and ecosystem-focused approaches. The MFMP specifies comprehensive management measures, key performance indicators, and timelines for implementation, alongside operational plans and monitoring strategies. The Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF), aims to balance societal objectives while considering the complexities of ecosystems and applying integrated fisheries management within ecologically meaningful boundaries. The text consists of 7 Chapters and provides for key policy drivers and objectives; description of fisheries sector; main processes for the Development Management Plan; key issues related to the fishery; institutional framework and results framework.
