Abstract
This Act establishes the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, defines its objects, functions and powers and provides with respect to its administration and functioning.
The objects of the Corporation are to undertake the exploration, development, production and disposal of petroleum. It shall promote the exploration and the orderly and planned development of the petroleum resources of Ghana. The Corporation may enter into agreements for petroleum exploration or production. It shall ensure that petroleum operations are conducted in such manner as to pre-vent adverse effects on the environment, resources and people of Ghana. The approval of the Minister shall be required for the Corporation entering into petroleum exploration and production agreements.
