Long-term National Development Plan of Ghana (2018-2057).

This Plan is drafted in accordance to Article 36 (2)(e) of 1992 Constitution. It is the first long-term national development plan of its kind for Ghana, marking 60 years of independence in 2017 and looking forward to the next 40. The Plan provides for the development of a modern network of economic and social infrastructure, public sector reforms, as well as a new approach to private sector development by taking into account the reflected risks. The first goal of the Plan relies on economic development and provides for vision of growth (2018-2057) for economic growth and job creation, private sector development and strategic exports and international trade. The text defines strategic growth areas for agriculture, pharmaceuticals, educational and financial services. The Plan further refers to social development policies for the second goal and aims for poverty and inequality reduction, promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment, education, health services, housing, water and sanitation, food security and youth development. The third goal of the Plan refers to protection of environment and set goals for urban and rural development, disaster management, land management and administration, minerals exploitation, forest management, coastal and marine areas management and climate change.
The Plan further provides for deepening democratic governance in Ghana, strengthening the capacity of the public sector, public safety and human security and promoting corporate governance to transform the productive service sectors of the economy. The last goal of this Plan relies on opportunities and challenges for Ghana and the world, Ghana beyond aid and indicative strategies for attaining goals.
