National Centre for the Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism Act, 2021 (Act 1070).

This Act establishes the National Centre for the Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism to assist the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in the timely identification of an emerging crisis in the West African sub-region and the implementation of an improved crisis response mechanism. The National Centre for the Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism, under the Office of the President, plays a key role in supporting ECOWAS by identifying and responding to emerging crises, particularly those affecting human security, including health and environment. Through strategic research, data analysis, and collaboration with public institutions, the Centre helps develop informed response options to safeguard stability and public well-being in these critical sectors. The Centre's functions include monitoring, collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data from various sources such as state bodies, local authorities, civil society, and ECOWAS. It also recommends response strategies based on its analyses and collaborates with public institutions on issues related to human security. The Act consists of 23 Articles.
