National Development Planning Commission Act 479 (Act, 1994).

The Act establishes the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) as the central body responsible for coordinating and guiding Ghana’s long-term development planning. Its main functions include formulating national development policies, advising the government, and ensuring that development plans are effectively implemented and aligned across sectors and regions. Further, it conducts research and strategic analysis, prepares development plans, promotes balanced regional growth, ensures environmental sustainability, and monitors and evaluates development programmes and policies. The Act outlines the composition, qualifications, tenure, and responsibilities of Commission members, as well as its organizational structure, including a Director-General, staff, committees, and collaboration with other state institutions. It also provides for financial management, reporting, access to information, and regulatory powers.
