National Youth Policy Implementation Plan 2014 2017.

The National Youth Policy Implementation Plan is a national policy with a multi-sectoral approach. The timeframe of the policy is 4 years between 2014 and 2017. The overall objective of the National Youth Policy Implementation Plan is youth empowerment and development with the participation of all stakeholders involved in the implementation of policies, programs and projects for the development of youth.
Access to shelter, nutrition, health and social services will be provided to vulnerable youth.
Environmental awareness will be raised among youth through capacity building and education on sustainable environmental practices and environmental protection. Irrigation schemes will be improved to increase agricultural production.
In order to address employment, training will be provided for youth in various technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills and access by youth to labour market information will be ensured. Furthermore youth involvement in modern agriculture will be increased by forming farmer based organizations, training young farmers in the field of agri-business, facilitating access to credit and market, and creating land banks. Social protection measures will be carried out for the development of youth such as supporting youth affected or infected by HIV, providing public health services, food, shelter and clothing, enhancing the social integration of vulnerable youth, awareness raising on protection from abuse, teenage pregnancy, tolerance and respect for youth, girls, women, socially excluded and disabled population. Database on Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion will be established. Youth organizations and groups will be developed. A Youth Parliament will be established to involve youth in decision-making processes.
The National Youth Policy Oversight Committee is responsible of monitoring of the implementation of the National Youth Policy in coordination with the ministries, departments, agencies, youth groups and organizations, metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, development partners, Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, civil society organizations, private sector organizations, media and political parties.
